Awake Mini-Abdominoplasty (Avelar)

An awake mini-abdominoplasty, or the Avelar Procedure, is performed on those who have a small area of excess fat & skin in the lower abdomen. This excess skin is often a byproduct of a pregnancy, or is in those who have gained and lost lower abdominal weight. This area does not respond to diet and exercise.

Those who are looking to have this extra skin and fat removed without the traditional abdominoplasty or tummy-tuck can now be helped with an awake mini-abdominoplasty; also called the Avelar Procedure.

It’s performed in the office under local anesthesia, and the excess skin is removed. The procedure takes about an hour and a half and requires a small bikini incision. It’s a same day procedure and patients can return to work within 3-4 days.
